I have just received some answers from Treasury to questions I asked regarding the ESPL –
(A) The manual talks about Bulk fuel storage e.g. a fuel depot or oil terminal but does not specify a service station or garage. Are petrol stations to be classified commercial or Industrial?
ANSWER from Treasury-Petrol stations should be classified as commercial
(B) Is a petrol station that sells only petrol with a small shop to be classified the same as a garage with mechanics and vehicle repair workshops?
ANSWER from Treasury- This would also be classified as commercial, and we anticipate the regulations to reflect this.
The ESPL category for a Retirement Village?
ANSWER from Treasury – Retirement villages (whether operated by a commercial entity or PBI/church/charity) should be classified as Residential for the purposes of ESPL. We anticipate this to be discussed in the regulations.
