Refer to Minister Hancock’s media release today (17/4/2020)

“The NSW Government has today made a series of regulatory changes… Allowing councils to delay sending out the first quarterly rates notice for 2020-21 and extend the payment deadline by one month;”

          Good Morning RPs

Have any council’s made a decision around delaying their 2021FY Q1 rates by one month at this stage?

No decision here at CCC yet either.

We haven’t made an official decision yet, however leaning to business as usual. But keen to hear what others are doing…my fear is for ratepayers who have land in various shires there could be confusion.

              Hi Melissa,
Nothing official but we are also looking at maintaining business as usual.

The regulations have been made, a copy can be found here – COVID19 regulation update

We are not planning on any changes other than to assist those individuals impacted financially by the pandemic. I like the concept that some councils are adopting with assistance to only those that have/are receiving support through the ‘Jobkeeper’ or ‘Jobseeker’ Federal Assistance Package, its a great way to leverage in determining eligibility.

Hope this is helpful, stay safe.

                Regards,
                Andrew
