Hi all – just a quick poll
Can you please tell me know if your council is taking (or planned subject to approval) an increase less than the 2.6% rate peg for next year?
Happy to hear from others that are taking on the 2.6% also – just so I can get a feel for the landscape. As background, Northern Beaches Council’s plan is on exhibition still, and looking at responses to submissions. Our proposal is to take the full 2.6% rate peg, but then grant a credit to each account equal to 1/2 the rate peg – ie what would be 1.3% of the new year’s levy (exclusive of any impact of the Reval)
All responses greatly appreciated
Cheers

MelJune 4, 2020 at 10:06 am #18483Balranald Shire is applying our full 10% SRV but have distributed less on residential rates. That said, being so remote here we have had minimal covid impact here on the majority of our ratepayers. We may have 6 small motels who have had impact. All other businesses have operated as normal. Also of note, we have a SRV because our rates are very low in comparison to other council’s.

ToddJune 5, 2020 at 2:06 pm #18477Hi Lyndal, Wollondilly is applying the full 2.6% rate peg. Our new year rates have just come off public exhibition & I’m not aware of any submissions being received. Our Councillors did look briefly at not applying the rate peg but being a general valuation year our analysis showed that around 50% of our assessments would have increased due to valuation changes anyway. It was therefore decided that not increasing income by the rate peg may become lost on allot of assessments & it may be difficult to explain to ratepayers that receive an increase resulting from a valuation change.
Regards,
Simone
