603 Certificate for PREVIOUS financial year/s

      Folks

      Council is in receipt of a request for a 603 Certificate for 2015/16.

      My questions is…. can we produce a 603 certificate for previous year/s?????

      Never before have I received a request like this nor have I heard anyone speak of same.

      Under Section 603 it states “….the amount (if any) due or payable to council..” however does not state whether for the current or previous year/s.

      HOWEVER, to cause confusion with my question, as it states “due and payable”, this would refer to the year in which the certificate is produced, therefore being the current year, therefore the 603 cert can not be produced for previous year/s.

      Any thoughts, comments, advice etc would be greatly appreciated.

        Hi Cindy,

        The purpose of a certificate under s603 is to provide amounts currently due and payable for the protection of purchasers. There is no such thing as providing a certificate at a previous point in time and I would definitely not attempt to do it.
