Hi All,

We have had a Non-Rateable exemption request from Coffs Harbour Aboriginal Family Community Care Centre Aboriginal Corporation for the head office that delivers out of home care and family preservation services to Aboriginal families.

They are a registered public charity and have PBI status. Thier objectives are to
. run an Aboriginal Family Community Care Centre for Aboriginal families in Coffs Harbour and surrounding areas
. promote Aboriginal Foster Care and Family-Link –Up arrangements
. communicate with schools in Coffs Harbour and the surrounding area on the needs of Aboriginal children

On the above basis would they meet S.556(3)?

Do you mean S.556(1)(h)?

If so, some additional considerations that you may or may not have covered off on already:

– do they own the land? Does it “belong” to them or another entity?
– what are their wind up provisions in their governing documents, i.e. if they go bust would their assets be distributed to a like organisation?
