      Hi everyone,

Penrith City Council has endorsed a plan for improving accessibility for people with disabilities throughout our City and I have been asked to look at the accessibility of our rates notices and our payment options.

Has anyone researched or implemented any accessibility options for their rates notices or payment options? if so, I would be keen to hear from any one about their solutions.

I am guessing the main consideration for rates notices would be for people with vision impairment but there may be some other accessibility issues for people with other disabilities.

If you could email me directly and/or provide details here for the benefit of other RP’s that would be great. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

      Kind regards,

      Matthew

        Hi Matt

I had a look at this a few years ago as we have a legally blind (has virtually no vision) person working at Council.

His advice was that he has tools that allows him to scan complex documents and convert them into something that he can absorb, either visually or audibly. He did suggest we contact Vision Australia, which I haven’t done yet.

Hope this is of some help.

        Regards,
        Andrew
