Good Afternoon
Have a customer asking questions about American Express to pay his rates.
Said two other other councils he had properties in accepted AMEX payments.
Just wondering if other Council’s acccept AMEX and if you do what are the costs associated with providing this payment option?
Also do you pass the merchant service fees onto the customer?

Hi Trev,

City of Sydney accepts AMEX. We don’t pass any fees to the customer.

Hi Trevor,
Wollondilly accepts AMEX. Merchant fee is high (2.75%). We pass on a standard merchant fee for all credit card payments (1% for payments processed at our customer service counter & 0.60% for Post Billpay). Fortunately AMEX isn’t a very popular payment method here.

Yep we accept AMEX (at this stage) and pass on the MSF.

No, Blacktown doesn’t accept AMEX.

Hi Trevor,
Penrith City Council doesn’t accept Amex. We ceased accepting AMEX in 2006. We commenced charging a credit card surcharge in 2009 for Visa and Mastercard payments but we removed the surcharge in July 2018, but still only accept Visa and MasterCard.
