      Afternoon all,

I hope everyone is gearing up for the end of the year.

Recently we’ve had ratepayers claim Centrelink have requested copies of rate notices dating back 20 years in order to apply for a concession. This is to show where notices were being sent during this time.

I was wondering if this was something new and if anyone else had received similar requests.

I’m wondering if it’s because at some point the property was rented, and it may need to be included as part of any asset testing.

      Thanks

      Jason

        Hi Jason

This is not something new. We would have around 5 a year of these requests.

It’s only on those larger rural properties.

At Coffs we provide a letter stating the property has been in the ownership since the purchase date. We do not provide service address of the notices.

        Hope this helps. Maria

          Hi Maria,

Thanks for getting back to me. And yes, it does help.

I have to admit these couple of requests are the first in all my time in Rates/Revenue that I have heard Centrelink asking for a copy of the notice/s.

Maybe we’ve just never been given a reason before.

I did suggest an Ownership letter, but the requestor/s want notices for some reason.

          Cheers

          Jason
