Hi all wasn’t sure which topic to put this under but as a newly merged Council we are updating a couple of our policies.

I would like to an idea of how many Council’s take change of addresses over the phone or require them in writing. If you take them over the phone what questions do you ask to ensure that you are talking to the ratepayer?

Also how many do a report to the General Manager and Council in regard to writing off of rates and charges (Clause 131 of the Regulations) in particular interest reversed.

      thanks

        Hi Lee.

We request the change of address in writing, either by fax, email or standard mail.
The argument is that anyone can pose as a property owner and request the change. If in writing then we have this as evidence.

In relation to interest. To date we have yet to provide a report to the GM/Council.

        Regards

        Cindy

          Hi Lee
We always request a change of address in writing, either by email, fax, online form or standard mail.
I haven’t been requested to provide the GM with a report on interest write off.
