Cut off $amount for service of summons

      Hi guys

      Re the increase in court costs for local government matters … if you have a monetary cut off amount before a summons is served – have you revised this amount and if so, how much is your new amount?

        Hi Cherie, our minimum for legals is $1,000 providing that the balance is two or more instalments. If the overdue balance is $1,000 but is only one instalment we wait until the next instalment is overdue.

          Our management has decided to maintain the status quo.
          That is, minimum of $500 and 2 instalments overdue

            We issue Summons on amounts over $400.00 regardless how many Instalments this is.

                  Hi Cherie,

                  We increased ours from $500 to $1000. Reason for this is minimum amount incurred in legal fees is almost $500, our debt recovery and hardship committee did not feel it was fair to double the outstanding amount in costs owed by the rate payer.
                  Ours currently does not matter how many instalments it is overdue.

                    Hi, ours had been increased to $700.00 before going to legals and 2 instalments outstanding.
