I know that the NSW Interpretation Act 1987 covers this – the due date becomes the first working day after the weekend, or public holiday.

Our direct debit form states where the date falls on a non business day, we will draw the amount on the next business day.

However if the due date is on the weekend we have always run the direct debits on the Friday before we also do this with monthly direct debits. We have never had a complaint until this time. Just wondering what everyone else does with direct debits do you run them on the following working day?

Am a bit concerned if we suddenly change people will spend their money over the weekend and then dishonour thinking the money has already come out of their account.

        Lee,
Next business day after the weekend – as the application states. Pretty sure this is the standard for most if not all direct debits.
