Snowy Monaro Regional Council has 4 ski resorts with in NPWS. For classification purposes, I had concerns that each individual property would need to be reviewed for the actual use.
Currently we have over 500 NPWS properties within our system. Quite a few in Thredbo and Perisher. These include, ski runs, lifts, residential units, business, car parks etc.
Fortunately, the OLG confirmed, land leased (more than the nominal rent) from NPWS will be commercial. Regardless whether the land is used for residential or business. Therefore in our case, it has saved a phenomenal amount of time classifying these.
One can only hope that eventually the Act will change allowing Council may to rate these properties accordingly.
