      Hi Everyone

      The latest from treasury

A guideline review application document has been posted to the FESL council portal for reference. This provides initial guidance to councils on handling applications for classification review, and some exemplar forms for review applications and decision notices. We do not anticipate mandating the content of these forms, but rather provide them as models that councils can use / build on as they see fit (and this way we don’t have everyone trying to reinvent the wheel at once).

The guidance will be incorporated into Release 4 of the FESL Manual, which we aim to release shortly after passage of the FESL legislation. However, we thought you might appreciate having sight of this now. Furthermore, should you have any practical feedback about the form and/or content, we’d be happy to take this on board and discuss at the Revenue Professionals conference this week.

        Hi all
In regard to the review process and the fee that a council might choose to charge, we’ve slipped a $50 fee into next years 2017-18 Fees & Charges, but of course we don’t have an adopted fee for the rest of this year 2016-17. So for all reviews lodged in the period April – June 2017 we will have to process without a fee? (Unless of course we wanted to go to public exhibition to add the fee to the 2016-17 Fees & Charges).

        Am I thinking correctly?
        Thanks
        Cherie

on second thought, we probably don’t want a fee during April – June 2017 as those will mostly be reviews to iron-out errors with classification (our errors) and any fee is refundable (ie; more work than it is worth in that period).

Don’t mind me thinking out loud, thank you.

          Cherie
