Hi everyone, your RP Executive has been following up on this item with the OLG as there had been some conjecture between a previous OLG Circular and the one attached.
I am not prepared to give any advice as it appears the 31 August 2020 instalment date is still an option just not enforceable.
Campbelltown City Council will be setting the first instalment to 30 September 2020 followed by 30 November 2020, 28 February 2021 and 31 May 2021.

      Regards,
      Andrew

Thanks Andrew We were just discussing this I would be interested to know if everyone is going to put 30 September as the first instalment date on the rate notice & are they going to try to encourage people to still pay by 31 August if they can.

        Regards

          Hi there
Randwick took up the one month delay for Op Plan and Budget planning, so we were headed for a 30 September 1st Instalment in accordance with the original advice and recent change to the Regulation. Our Op Plan/Budget will not be on exhibition until next week so we won’t have Rates on our system until the last couple days in July.
We will try to get the Rate notice issued as early as possible in August.

            Hi,

We were able to proceed business as usual with our Operational Plan and budgeting so we expect no delays in issuing rates at Warren. In light of the 0% interest for the first 6 months of the financial year we are taking the option of leaving our due date as 31 August to encourage early payment, with room to accommodate any payments up to 30 September (and beyond where appropriate).

            Cheers,
            Skye

Is it clear what date we put on notices for the due date?? 31/08/20 or 30/09/20

We will be sending in July as per normal.

                Hi Emma,

                The latest OLG Circular states:
“ The collection of the first quarter rates instalment (whether a single or quarterly instalment) is due by 30 September 2020.”

                The new regulation states:
Cl 413I Payment of rates and annual charges
                (1) Despite section 562(3) of the Act, an instalment (whether a single instalment or a quarterly instalment) of annual rates and charges that would have been payable by 31 August 2020 is instead payable by 30 September 2020.

Both say 30 September 2020 is the due date – I can’t see how you can deceive the ratepayer by putting anything other than 30 September 2020 on the notice.

City of Newcastle are proceeding with 30 September 2020.

                Hope this helps.
                Mick

                  Hi Mick,

Thankyou for your input…Ive re-read the circular and between that and your clarrification, my head is clearer. Is anyone planning to put a flyer or notation on the notice with a date explanation??

My only concern is for those rate payers who have a direct debit that may need to be aware of the date change.
