      Hi All,
On our 603 certificate we include outstanding rates and water amounts.
We have just discovered a 603 certificate where the individual amounts owing were included on the certificate BUT the total amount due was the rate amount owing ONLY.
We have received payment of the total amount due but now water amount remains unpaid.
As they paid the total amount due on the certificate EXACTLY even though there were arrears that were accruing interest, it is very likely that they did not update the certificate (at which time the error would have been identified).
Anyone had any experience with issuing an incorrect 603 certificate and with any suggested wording for any reply?
Happy for you to email me direct (David.Grima@wsc.nsw.gov.au).
      Thank you,
      Dave

        Hi Dave

If the issue was picked up prior to settlement, you could have contacted the recipient advising of the error and issue an amended certificate.

As the settlement has been finalised you could contact the recipient to advising of the error and hopefully, they can make arrangements with the former ratepayer to make the additional payment. Good luck with this option.

Otherwise, seek permission to write off the amount omitted from the certificate. In doing so document how the error occurred, and the steps that have been taken to prevent an occurrence.

        Cheers

        Anthony

yeah that was the plan Anthony but in the end we got lucky and the new owner paid (not sure why) but thankful all the same.
