      Hi All,
Is anyone considering placing a line on the 2023/2024 rate notice for the costs of emergency service levy (ESL). If so how are you planning on presenting this?

        Hi Tracey,

We have been showing it on our rate notices since 2017/18. We place the text just above the instalment amounts on the annual notice.

        The wording we use is

Council’s contribution to the NSW Government Emergency Services Levy
In 2022/2023 Council is required to contribute $2,552,059.26 from our general rates.

        Regards
        Pete

          HI Tracey,

We weren’t going to but looks like Blacktown will be sending a DL flyer out with our notices in July.

          Thank you

            Hi All,
Thanks for the responses Wollongong will be placing a literal on our notice this year.

Proposed wording (still yet to be signed off by GM) will read something like this –

            Emergency Services Levy
Did you know, a portion of your rates funds the State Emergency Service, the Rural Fire Service, and Fire and Rescue NSW? All local governments in NSW contribute to the Emergency Services Levy, and Wollongong City Council’s portion was recently increased to more than $6.1 million for 2023-2024.
