We just received this message from our contact at The NSW Gazette.
This email is to advise you that, from 1 July 2019, there is no charge for a notice if there is a legislative requirement for the notice to be published in the Gazette. As your notice is required to be published in the Gazette under section 715 of the Local Government Act 1993, there is no charge.

This comes 11 months after the very helpful change to S.715(1) which gave Councils discretion to advertise in a newspaper that satisfies Council it ‘is likely to bring the notice to the attention of persons who may be interested in purchasing the land’.
We have just completed S.713 sales for 3 Councils and have 3 more underway and see this as more good news – the effect of each change is to either increase the sale proceeds surplus for Ratepayers or to reduce the write-offs for Councils.
