      Morning Fellow Pro’s,
Like a number of amalgamated Councils, we have commenced the process of examining the rate structures of both former Councils with a view to arriving at a new Rate structure when the “Rate Freeze” ends.
Just wondering if any Council (amalgamated or not) have re-examined their structure in the last few years, and if so, what methodology you used to arrive at a new structure.

Any views would be greatly appreciated

        Hi KB,
We are in the process of doing the same thing.
Personally I think it is a waste of time doing anything until guidelines have been issued to affected Councils by either the State Govt, IPART of OLG.
Not sure about you but the rating structures of our former Councils are entirely different:-
        1) our minimums are approx $250.00 different
        2) former Rockdale has special levies from previous SRV
        3) former Botany has eight (8) subcategories of the Ordinary Business Rate (one of which is illegal because it is based on rateable value that has not been documented anywhere)
        4) both former Councils have Local Area rates
This ain’t gonna be a fun exercise for Anna & I or the ratepayers.
Happy to meet up and discuss …. maybe over a kebab 🙂
        Dave
