Hi

Would like to know what other Councils are doing regarding coming in line with the ESPL levy.
Rating from the 1 July or rating quarterly eg subdivsion etc
I am trying to gather information to put forward in changing over from yearly to quarterly rating.

We rate from the date the new plan is registered and the ESPL will be from the next quarter.

Hi Nicole, we have previously rated from the date of registration of a new plan. From 1 July we will be rating from start of the next quarter to keep our rate supps consistent with ESPL.

we have been rating quarterly for over 15 years, so the levying quarterly of ESPL will present no issues with us

I note the proposed legislation for ESPL is quite specific and clear in regards to quarterly levying.

I am hoping that any new Local Government rating legislation will be equally clear. Until then I plan to continue with annual assessment of rates.

Hi Nicole,

We prorata from the data of registration I have had numerous discussion with both the rates team and finance manager and we have decided not to change our policy.

So our rates will be from date of registration and ESPL from the next quarter.

Randwick pro-rata rates from 1st day of the next quarter following plan registration – same as ESPL.
