      Hi all,

I was wondering if someone knew the length of time a concession card holder can be overseas before they are no longer considered eligible for a rebate on their rate account. From memory the limit recently reduced from 13 weeks to approx. 6 weeks, however I can’t find anything online to confirm this. All I can find is “If your travel is short term, your payment will stop when you depart, unless you’re travelling for an approved reason.”

When I do an online verification with Centrelink the pensioner whose details are all correct, but which shows a PCC Entitlement of Unable to Confirm, effective from 28/06/2023. The person intends to be overseas for another month or so and want to make sure I am reversing the rebate on his account correctly.

      Thanks

      Jason

My post disappeared when I edited it to include link Services Australia which states
If you travel for a short term, your card will remain current for up to 6 weeks. But you must be getting your main payment. If your main payment stops, we’ll cancel your card.
Unless your policy sets out a different approach, I would cancel the rebate entirely and advise them to reapply on return.

          Hi Darryl.

Thanks so much for that advice. I missed that part about still needing to get the main payment.

          Cheers

          Jason
