Does anyone know whether we are legally required to have the tenant’s name(s) before proceeding to rent for rates? There is no mention of it in LGA S.569.

        Hi Sue
710 Service of notices on persons
        (5) The notice may be addressed by the description of “rateable person” or “owner” or “occupier” of the land, building or premises (naming or otherwise sufficiently indicating the same) in respect of which the notice is served, and without further name or description.

          Hi Sue

          Robert is correct.

Unfortunately, if you then want to sue the tenant for not complying you will need a name to have as a Defendant.

          Regards

          David

Thanks Simon. I don’t think I’d want to go down the track of suing the tenant, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t try to get the tenant to pay the rent for rates in the first place…
