Section 712 and Deferral of Rates Policy

      Hi all

      I am currently reviewing Council Rates Recovery and Hardship Policy for Deferred Rates.

      I am aware that Bankstown Council have updated their policy to defer rates for a maximum of 19 years(as per Ken’s presentation at a prior Rating Professionals Conference and their amended Debt Recovery and Hardship Policy).

      Are there any other Council’s that have taken the same or similar approach as Bankstown to secure the debt in excess of 19 years? If so what is your policy?

        Hi Dajana

        Shoalhaven has a long history of rate deferral for pensioners (approx. 40 years) but we have just successfully changed our policy. Too much information to put into an email but if you want to give me a call later this week will be happy to discuss.
