      Hi all,

I hope someone may have had this come across their desk before, because for me it’s the first one and it’s got me questioning, what is senior’s housing when it is provided by Dept. of Housing?

We have had three parcels of land (which had residential homes) owned by the DoH consolidated to one and they have submitted a DA to Council for construction of 11 senior housing dwellings.

Now I’m not sure if I should be rating this Business or Residential because of this description from Planning NSW.

Senior’s housing is designed to meet the needs of seniors and people with disability.
      Senior’s housing includes:
Residential care facilities – sometimes also known as nursing homes or aged care homes. Residents receive full-time care.
Independent living units – apartments or villas for seniors and people with disability. Residents can live independently.
Hostels – includes single or shared residential accommodation staffed by support workers.

Can anyone provide me their two cents worth?

      Thanks
      Andrea

        Hi Andrea
        My 2 cents worth.
Does Regulation 122 of Local Government(General) Regulation 2021 apply to this type of development?
Mentions land used for retirement village, serviced apartments or time share to be categorised as residential.
Would disregard the description from Planning NSW.
Think it should be categorised and rated as Residential.
What do others out there think? Be interested to hear their interpretations.
        Trvor
