      Hi

Tumut Council are currently looking at SMS messaging for overdue notices, and were wondering of any other Council that may utilise SMS Messaging for rates and/or water; and if you feel it’s worth the money.

      Thanks in advance
      Lynda

        Hi Lynda,

We have been using SMS for the last few years and have found it to be a success in terms of collections and reduction in legal action. There is also a significant cost saving as opposed to issuing letters. The biggest challenge for any Council considering SMS is your phone number database. We worked closely with our Customer call centre to ensure we captured as many ratepayer phone numbers as possible. Cheers, Rob.

          Hi Lynda,

Penrith Council has also seen terrific results. The database of mobile numbers is growing every day but already we have reduced reminder notices by 10%. Customers really like the added service as well. Just be ready for the phone calls when you hit SEND!

          Regards,
          Suzi
