I suppose I could have held off a week to ask this, however not everyone has train station platforms in their area, and knowing me, I’ll forget.
On the platforms at Strathfield Train Station there are shops held under lease for private purposes. Rate notices have been issued, including a levy for stormwater management. I’ve had a ratepayer question if he should be levied the stormwater component, as he is under the awning of the station, and as a result does not create any stormwater run-off.
I’ve rang the OLG to get their opinion, however as they haven’t come across this before they are unsure as well.
I’m of the opinion the leaseholder shouldn’t be levied the charge, and was just wanting to see what others thought.
