CVC is yet to introduce payment by Direct Debit and I am seeking advice on the best practice for processing these. If anyone has any procedures you are able to share it would be appreciated. (we are on Tech One Property & Rating).
We are interested in hearing from Councils that use direct debits via Bpoint and also those that are your Council managed process.
Any pros and cons are welcome.
      thanks

PS can you please also advise approximately how many customers you have on Direct Debits.

Palerang Council is using Tech One for Direct Debits. We only offer annual or instalment payments. This is done through Tech 1, producing a journal and data file. The data file is then upload to our bank.

          Hi Mchelle

We offer Direct Debit for rates by any term the customer wants to pay (Annual, Quarterly, Monthly, Fortnightly, Weekly etc) but we do not accept credit cards due to PCI concerns.

The process is managed in house via Civica.

We did look at using BPoint for credit cards but it was thought the process was too onerous as the Council was responsible for maintenance & updating card information re dates etc.

For rates we have 509 Annual, 1626 Quarterly, & about 20 ad hoc (weekly, monthly etc).

We also offer DD for debtors & do offer limited Credit card as part of this.

            Hi Mchelle,

We do offer direct debits for both Rates and Sundry Debtors on all frequencies like North Sydney. We do not accept credit cards due to PCI concerns. We are on Pathway and the file loads are handled in-house.

We are currently reviewing the contract for agency payments for IVR and Web and have requested a direct debit process where Council does not have to be involved and that the financial institutions handles all the data. I can keep you update on the progress if you wish
