      Hi Susan
Yep, agree with Robert. The 125 amount is your LV amount for rating $84k. S.125 values don’t work like allowances as you say.

        Hi Tracey

You seem to have heaps of options already, more than we have at Randwick.
We have reluctantly allowed EFT direct to our bank over the years but do not offer it as an option. For the ones that we’ve allowed, we’ve stressed the importance of using their account number as the Reference and also that they must also email a remittance to our debtors@randwick email address.

I’d avoid allowing direct deposits this way if you can avoid it Trace. Your bank req person will thank you for it … 1. because lots of debtors don’t do the right thing, and 2. the flow of payments are ad hoc and need to be receipted ad hoc (not like a quick bulk import receipt). Time consuming.

          Hi Adele
Some councils would have a policy/procedure to review categories upon sale/transfer. If you did review the category of a property upon sale and you did decide to change the category, yes, you would then need to send the owner a letter advising of the change and declaring the new category. You would also note the reason for the change in the letter and let the new owner know of the avenues of review and appeal of your decision. See sections 523-527 of the Act.

Randwick uses PayPal indirectly via Australia Post’s Postbillpay payment suite. We show the PayPal icon our Rates notices.
I’ve sent this info. to Mark in an email.

If there are two different TPI Gold cards, 1. Gold Card TPI (regular), and 2. Gold Card Card TPI (Health Care) then I’m not sure that the ‘health’ version of the card satisfies 1(b) on the our form.
Maybe we need some written clarity from DVA and/or OLG on this one? Especially if there are 2 cards and the means testing differs for each card, eg; a veteran may quality for a TPI Gold Card (for Health) but not qualify for a TPI Gold Card (regular card) …. sounds like a veteran can have one without the other.
                just thoughts.

                  Hi Megan
I reckon your instincts are right … you wouldn’t want to go straight down the path of sale of land with an owner that you suspect may be mentally ill. Other RP’s will be able to tell you specifics of situations like this (I can’t remember, but I think there was a story about a lady with chooks and sale of land some years back). I’d try to really ‘reach’ the owner before considering sale of land. Do you have a Hardship Policy? Can you involve your community services people and get their insighta – maybe they’ll be able to arrange a visit and then you can learn more about the owner. Council may be then able to assist the owner with other issues that you are not aware of at the moment. Owner may even be a pensioner but wasn’t aware of the rebate.
                  It’s a sticky one ….

                    Hi Michelle

The IBIS product is very good for modelling and reporting data.
When not using for modelling or rate-setting it is also a good tool for reconciliation and data cleansing.

Drop me a line if you have any specific questions:

                      Hi Simone
Sounds like all residential ratepayers are affected by the name change? I’d do the letters for a few reasons: 1) compliance , 2) fresh direct engagement with your ratepayers about their categorisation, and 3) good PR – you don’t want 100’s of calls after the fact when you could have addressed and explained the change upfront. Your letter could be both a declaration and an explanation of change (you might even get some ratepayers coming forward as a result of the letter saying their category isn’t right and then you can investigate – so good house-keeping).
If it it means 1000’s of letters maybe your mailhouse could get them out for you – I guess the postage $ will hurt, but I reckon you need to do it and moreso if you regularly get ratepayers challenging whether they are in Residential ordinary or the sub category.
