Hi all, Am I correct in thinking that the additional claim made for properties that were not destroyed but had 75% of their property burnscar affected are now not going to receive any rate relief? We have already lodged a claim for instalments 1 & 2 of 2020-2021 384 assessments totalling over $380,000 & many of these ratepayers are of the opinion that they will have 2 instalments paid. If this is not the case it will cause a lot of grief trying to explain to them that they now have to pay the instalments they were expecting to be paid by the State Government.
Hi
we would only give a % based on ownership. Also just on this we have an application where the wife owns the property single ownership, the husband has a gold card TPI but she isn’t mentioned on the card, He also has a PCC but she isn’t on that either. She works full time. Would you grant a rebate?
thanks
We cancel from date of registration as well
Hi yes we have the same issue and as we are merged and still on 4 different systems we had a lot of trouble trying to make the reports look the same. I did tell them them they should have told us this time last year on how they required the information not 2 weeks ago. We have done the best we can but its not all how they wanted it. We couldn’t pull some of the info out retrospectively for last year in their required format.
We have never supplied the beneficiary details in the spreadsheets before.
Will be interesting to see whether they approve the claim am expecting lots of emails.MidCoast is applying the full 5% SV although its still on display
Thanks Andrew We were just discussing this I would be interested to know if everyone is going to put 30 September as the first instalment date on the rate notice & are they going to try to encourage people to still pay by 31 August if they can.
Regards
No still waiting I spoke to them last week & was told they are just waiting on it to be signed off & then they would be paid straight away.
Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has received the money from RMS yet for bushfire affected properties?
Just wanted to see how others are going with this we have prepared a spreadsheet showing the 3rd & 4th instalments for affected properties and also a breakup of the totals for the different types of rates ordinary, stormwater etc as requested.
We have been asked to provide them with an invoice for the land portion of the instalments only. Do you think this should just be the full instalment or exclude stormwater etc?
RMS have advised that they will only reimburse the land portion of the rates (general rates) While they are still working with the powers that be to see if the other categories can be paid, this (if approved) will be done separately.
Is this how you see this? Do you think they just don’t understand how instalments are made up?
So if not all the instalment is paid we will have to look at every assessment to determine the ordinary rate portion for receipting the payments. Then ratepayers are going to receive a 4th instalment notice for the balance being made up of stormwater, onsite, waste management etc.
As most ratepayers believe that RMS is paying the full 3rd & 4th instalments this will create problems down the track.
Thanks Matthew that’s a great help

You’ll also need to be the owner and occupier of one of the following:
• single dwelling
• dual occupancy
• strata or company title unit
• unit in a retirement village with a life term lease.
We have had enquiries from ratepayers and it has now escalated to the Local Member about why we won’t grant rebates to retirement villages.
Not sure exactly what a life term lease is but our retirement villages are owned by a company and have a single assessment so we don’t grant any rebates for rates or water.
Any thoughts?July 16, 2018 at 9:52 am in reply to: NSW Aboriginal Land Council – now asking for Nonratablility as a PBI #19640Hi Mary, We have an Aboriginal Medical Centre in Forster (Tobwabba Medical Centre) its been there for around 10 years now, on a part lot owned by the FORSTER LOCAL ABORIGINAL LAND COUNCIL, they have not applied for non rateability so far & its rated as business.
Hi Glynes, I wrote back & advised them that we are definitely not ready to receive amalgamated data as we are still operating under 3 separate rating systems & will be for some time yet. We are still having a few issues with our supps balancing if the Vg’s miss mapping any of the properties on the supp to the former council the totals don’t balance.
Regards
Great Lakes stopped Australia Post payments in 2009 we copped a bit of flack for the 1st year but nothing much now. We sent out flyers with the rate notices advising ratepayers & asking them to use direct debit. A lot of our ratepayers live outside the area so they did complain a bit but most have now changed to either direct debit or bPay.
Now we are merged with Taree & Gloucester who are still both using Aust Post.
