Neil was a kind and generous man, always happy to help and always fun to have a joke with.
Rest in peace, Neil.
Thanks for the reminder, Andrew.

Hi Matt,
I agree with Andrew and Robert. You might like to speak with Sarah Gubb from OLG as well because OLG has advice on the matter.
Showing the impact of such a proposal on the LTFP should be a key factor to decision making.
SuziApril 30, 2025 at 1:07 pm in reply to: Submission to the draft report, review of prices for the Valuer General’s land valuation services to councils #25308Thanks for posting this, Andrew. I know many councils will find this helpful to form or finalise their own submission.
Hi Dallas,
I don’t believe you can legally recover such a fee on the Rate Notice.
SuziHi Dallas,
This can be facilitated through an Environmental Upgrade Agreement but it does not involve council funding it.
I have experience in EUA’s if you need further info.
SuziHi Suzy,
I also agree with Robert and Andrew that Commonwealth Seniors Health Cardholders are not eligible pensioners.
Section 577 allows an extension of the concession to avoid hardship but only in 2 very specific set of circumstances. Both sections require there to be an eligible pensioner on the land.
There are no laws allowing an extension of the concession to Commonwealth Seniors Health Cardholders without there being at least one eligible pensioner using the dwelling as their sole or principal place of living.

Hi all,
For anyone following this thread, Andrew has this morning posted an updated Manual provided to make the application of this specified use clearer.
SuziNovember 22, 2024 at 9:35 am in reply to: Updated advice on item 2.5.7 Under development or construction, with intended use mainly residential #24445Thanks Andrew. I really was astounded that they had stipulated a requirement for all greenfill parcels to be individually checked for DA and CC, even after they were advised of the volume. This makes much more sense.
Hi Dallas,
Yes I think that’s how it is shaping up, which is why having councils on the different valuation base dates wouldn’t matter. I assume Revenue NSW will use the annual valuations done across the state. Will send you ours 🙂

Hi Glynes,
Your council will need to has adopted an authorised officer in its delegations. At our council, these are approved by a manager in the Planning department.
Try searching your document management system for ones done in the past.

In addition to the comments above, you might want to note section 603(3)(d) that states that after the sale, any certificate is to include “the name of the person shown in the council’s records at the date of the certificate as the owner of the land, if the person acquired the land under Division 5 of Part 2 of Chapter 17.”
I’m not sure if you usually include the owner’s name or not, so thought I’d mention it.

Thanks for sharing Darryl. I remember your presentation at the conference. It was very interesting. Perhaps the RP can locate it and share again.
Hi everyone,
Sorry for the late reply on this one. An SMS is not a notice and should not be intended to take the place of a notice, so section 710 would not apply. We send SMS reminders after instalments are missed. We advise why we are collecting the details and how we will use the information.
The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner provides advice on its website about Privacy Policies. It states:
“An organisation or agency’s privacy policy must tell you:
* their name and contact details
* what kinds of personal information they collect and store
* how they collect personal information and where it is stored
* the reasons why they need to collect personal information
* how they’ll use and disclose personal information
* how you can access your personal information, or ask for a correction
* how to lodge a complaint if you think your information has mishandled, and how they’ll handle your complaint
* if they are likely to disclose your information outside Australia and, if practical, which countries they are likely to disclose the information to.” -
